My Monday Thing! is a popular program all about providing neighbors with an opportunity for more than the food and fellowship they enjoy at our Sunday meals. It’s a fun time that offers folks a chance to forget their worries, connect with people who care about them, and simply enjoy a day out.
Clothing
Everyone is welcome at our bright, beautiful clothing closet staffed by volunteers eager to help and talk with shoppers as they select free, gently used clothing, shoes, and accessories for women, men and children.
Haircuts
Thanks to the generosity of a growing number of hair stylists who lovingly donate their time and talent, we are able to offer free haircuts to those who need them but have trouble finding the money to pay for them.
Crafts
Our neighbors love craft times, when volunteers come alongside them to help create a different clever, unique item each month, something they can take pride in making and enjoy showing or giving to others.
Food
Food, consisting of hot breakfasts and lunches plus a variety of sweets and snacks, is available from the time neighbors arrive until they leave. Sitting together around tables provides a great opportunity for fellowship with other neighbors and for deepening relationships with volunteers.
Conversations
Our Community Health Worker mingles with neighbors and is available to meet one-on-one with anyone wishing to discuss specific needs. Neighbors so inclined are invited to participate in a volunteer-led group discussion surrounding a particular subject such as gratitude, hope, forgiveness, and other topics chosen to inspire and promote positive thinking.
