It all begins with a meal. Meals are the very heart and soul of the Living Stones ministry. Since we began in 2012, we have been rescuing and redirecting locally prepared food destined for dumpsters to serve hot, sit-down meals. During our first 10 years, we served nearly 30,000 meals, all on Sunday afternoons at 4:30. In 2021, with the introduction of My Monday Thing!, we began serving breakfasts, lunches, and snacks once a month from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm.
All the food we serve is donated. It comes frozen from fully licensed and accredited senior care homes, health care facilities, and other businesses and institutions. The food is frozen by the providers, picked up by volunteers, stored in freezers, and transferred to serving locations where it is thawed, reheated, and served buffet style. All the food we prepare is eaten on site or taken away in to-go containers. No food is wasted.
